With 25 years as an avid fan of
greyhound racing and 15 years as an award-winning journalist and
broadcaster, David Leibowitz couldn't be happier about the chance to
blend his two passions as a co-host on the 2008 Night of Stars.
David began his career as a
newspaper columnist with The Trentonian in New Jersey, then migrated
west to Phoenix where he wrote feature columns for the East Valley
Tribune and the Arizona Republic. He spent six years as a morning radio
talker, hosting “Real Life With David Leibowitz” on 620 KTAR, the
state's largest radio station, and several years contributing TV
commentary to KNXV (ABC15) and KPNX (NBC’s Channel 12). Since 2004, he's
been the lead host on "Post Time," a weekly radio show dedicated to the
sport of greyhound racing.
David has been named Arizona’s
best news columnist multiple times, and the state’s best sports
columnist, feature columnist and radio host. In 2006, he joined Phoenix
ad agency Moses Anshell as its creative director and vice president. In
the two years since, the agency has won more than 50 local, regional and
national awards for creative excellence.
As far as his greyhound
handicapping skills go, David hasn't won any awards, but he loves the
puzzle that each race represents. He cut his dog racing teeth as a
teenager along the rail at Hollywood, watching greats like P's Rambling
and Underoo, and he's been to tracks all across America and in Europe. A
Phoenix resident, David's the proud owner of a dachshund named Ripley.
And yes, the dog is named after Derby Lane great Talentedmrripley.
